Neelam Kothari was educated at Island School, where she was a member of Rutherford House. When she was a teenager, her family moved to Bangkok. When Neelam was on vacation in Mumbai she was approached by director Ramesh Behl. She decided to give acting a shot and signed Jawaani (1984) alongside Karan Shah, Tina Munim’s nephew. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Neelam Kothari admits she is not comfortable with today’s entourage culture.

When asked about today’s entourage culture, actress Neelam Kothari admits never not being comfortable with it, she said, “Okay, here it is. An entourage looks really cool—I think it’s great. It makes a person look like a star. You’ve got your bodyguards, and your makeup team—it’s all very glamorous, and I love how it looks. But personally, I can’t bear having anyone around me. I can vouch for this myself. Even when I’m shooting, and the makeup artist or hairdresser comes for touch-ups, I’m like, ‘Just go, just leave me alone, move away.’ “

Neelam concluded, “I’m not someone who enjoys that constant presence. Don’t get me wrong—having an entourage is great, and if the producer can afford it, why not? But for me, it’s not something I’m comfortable with. Back in the ’80s and ’90s, we had a makeup artist, a hairdresser, and a spot boy, and that was more than enough. Simple and manageable—that’s how I like it.”
